My cold weather skin regimen

Seriously, do not call PETA

Hey Lovers,

The temperature here in NYC is dropping; quickly. It feels like Fall plans on being a Winter perpetrator. As someone who still suffers from occasional acne, my hot weather regimen is important.  As someone who also suffers from eczema, my cold weather regimen is even more important because my skin tends to flake and get really itchy. Below are my cold weather skin staples because we all need to be in tiptop shape for ‘cuffin season.

Low temperatures also bring low humidity so locking in the moisture is important. When the temperatures are low I love Ole Henrikson‘s sheer transformation  for day and the Body Shop’s  Vitamin E moisturizer for night.

Josie Maran

Masks

Argan oil has been the rage for awhile. I love Josie Maran‘s argan oil cleanser. When I want a deep clean without totally stripping my skin, I pair this cleanser with my Clarisonic. A little goes a long way. The bottle shown is nearly a year old.

Many people don’t realize that masks are important in the colder temperatures as well. In summer I like Origin’s charcoal mask to draw out impurities left behind by sweat and makeup. When it’s polar vortex season, I love Origin’s Drink Up mask to replenish moisture. To exfoliate but not dry I use The Body Shop’s Honey & Oat 3 in 1 mask.

Laura Mercier Foundation

Once the temperature drops, I switch out my foundation. As we’ve discussed, I like a full face or a fuller face. I love the Laura Mercier Moisture Supreme foundation. It keeps my face moisturized but not greasy while also being full coverage.

I replaced about 25% of the organic coconut oil with shea butter. I read a few blog posts that said a double boiler should be used to melt the shea butter. I channeled Sweet Brown because I certainly didn’t have time for that. I used the microwave and it worked!

Eucerin

Years ago a doctor recommended Eucerin cream for eczema. I use the cream as a base and the oil mixture seals it in. Eucerin cream works great. I’ve been using it for years and it really helps with the dry flaky skin brought by the bitch eczema.
